  • 2009Zack Greinke strikes out 10 Tigers in a 6-1 win. The Tigers’ run in the fifth inning is unearned, but it ends Greinke’s streak of 38 consecutive scoreless innings dating back to last season. At this point in the ’09 season, he’s 4-0 with a pristine ERA.
  • 1996Greg Myers and Paul Molitor each have five RBI as the Twins set a team record for runs and crush the Tigers 24-11.

  • 1956 — A.L. umpire Frank Umont, a former NFL tackle for the New York Giants, is the first to wear glasses in a regular season game when he calls a game between the Tigers and Kansas City Athletics.
