Game 20: Tigers 8 – Rangers 6

The Score: Tigers 8 – Rangers 6

The Gist: Jeremy Bonderman continues to taunt Jim Leyland and Tigers fans with his combined brilliance and mediocrity in the same starts. After mowing down the Rangers for four innings, Bonderman ended up allowing six hits and four earned runs in 5.2 innings pitched.

Nevertheless, the Tigers managed to pile on some runs — thanks to a pair of homers by previously homer-less Brandon Inge and a ninth-inning tie-breaker by Miguel Cabrera. The Tigers closed out their West Coast road trip at 5-6.

The Quote: “He throws so hard that if you make contact, it can go out, especially in this ballpark.” — Cabrera on his homer off of Rangers’ closer Naftali Feliz.

The Stat: 1 — The run differential between the Tigers (24) and Rangers (23) in this series.
