Game 33: Tigers 2 – Yankees 0

ESPN highlights available here.
The Score: Tigers 2 – Yankees 0

The Gist: Rick Porcello had the Yankees beating the ball into the ground — to the tune of 14 groundouts in seven innings — and at last looked masterful. Brennan Boesch drove in a run and stole a home run off the bat of Alex Rodriguez in the third. Javier Vazquez held the Tigers to just five hits and struck out seven in as many innings and took the tough-luck loss.

The Quote: “It was perfect for us.” — Jim Leyland on Porcello’s bullpen-saving performance.

The Stat: 49 — The game-time temperature. Which doesn’t bode well for fans attending the nightcap.

The Stat II: 27,376 — The announced attendance which, if you saw the game on TV, is a joke. I think there were more people in the press box.
