  • 1974 — In a three-way trade, the Tigers acquired catcher Jerry Moses from the Yankees and
    traded RHP Jim Perry to the Indians and RHP Ed Farmer to the Yankees (the Indians traded RHP Rick Sawyer and outfielder Walt Williams to the Yankees).

  • 1921 — At the age of 34, Ty Cobb becomes the youngest player to collect 3,000 hits when he singles off Elmer Myers of the Red Sox.
